Law of the Republic of Lithuania on Alternative Fuels
The Law on Alternative Fuels creats opportunities to increase the share of renewable energy sources (RES) in the transport sector by up to 15% by 2030, thus significantly reducing the negative impact on climate and promoting the consumption of biofuels at the pump.
From 2026, all vehicles and buses purchased through public procurement procedure will have to be clean.

Mandatory RES share for petrol and diesel suppliers
Fuel suppliers must ensure that the fuel from renewable energy sources in the total energy value of petrol and diesel placed on the domestic market by a fuel supplier for each calendar year would account for an appropriate share.
Mandatory RES share for natural gas suppliers
Suppliers of natural gas to the transport sector must ensure that biogas or non-biological gaseous fuels sold from renewable energy sources in the total energy value of natural gas by a fuel supplier for each calendar year would account for an appropriate share.
